Some "Cheaters" Are B-A-D

Back during the Clinton administration, we were told that some people were cheating the welfare system, so we basically got rid of it. In current times, we're told that some public sector union workers are living high on the hog in retirement and others are being paid big bucks for doing very little. Since some union members are cheating, we're told, the best way to handle the situation is to get rid of the unions.

When it comes to cheating the system, the best method for dealing with the minority of cheaters is to pull the rug out from under everybody. That will teach them cheaters a lesson!!

Yes, America deals roughly with cheaters except...

If it's found that banks or mortgage servicers are cheating homeowners, THEN we look the other way.

If it is discovered that certain companies are cheating the Department of Defense on contracts, we give them new contracts anyway.

If we uncover that for-profit "colleges" are lying in their promotional ads to desperate job seekers and are bilking the government out of taxpayer dollars, we continue to give them more taxpayer dollars.

What can I say? It's the American way.

  1. It's not just in the USA, the banks are getting away with it over here as well. Of course, the fact that 50% of the UK Conservative party's campaign donations came from the financial sector might have something to do with it.

The whole thing here and there stinks of a collusion in a setup IMO, they won't tackle certain things because of powerful vested interests. But it must be tackled, I fear that the eventual consequences for all of us of leaving it are much worse.
