Verse Twenty-ThreeThe highest truth cannot be put into words. Therefore the greatest teacher has nothing to say. He simply gives himself in service, and never worries.~ Translated by Brian Walker ~
It's a sobering reminder that, regardless of what or how well I write posts on this blog, I can't genuinely teach you anything. Yes, I may succeed in motivating you to look at the world anew, but the truth you find owes not one damn thing to me.
This is not to suggest that we can't learn from others. We can learn new skills and gain new insights from teachers, family, coworkers and friends. But the truths of Tao cannot be transmitted to you by me or anyone else.
You alone must find them. You alone must embrace them. You alone must be breathe them. You alone must live them.
And when you alone are able to see the ordinary in the mystery, then you will fast discover that you are not alone at all.
