Tao Bible - Ezekiel 33:9

Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
~ King James version ~

Teaching without words and work without doing
Are understood by very few.
~ from Verse 43 of the Tao Te Ching ~
This verse sounds to me like God is instructing his followers to be busybodies. We are to run around spying on everyone else and shaking our fingers in their faces when we think they're being b-a-d.

Lao Tzu suggests we teach others, not be scolding them, but by leading virtuous lives ourselves. The idea is to model behavior that might benefit each person and society as a whole.

  1. "teach others" is still rooted in doing.

All we can hope for is to help others learn. The example of "leading virtuous lives ourselves" is a catch-22 as it often instils in learners denial, cynicism or a fear of making mistakes. Learning, for both master & student, is through courage & humility from within
