A One-Sided Argument

Suggest the notion of increasing governmental revenue by raising taxes and the politically conservative will howl, "You're taking money out of people's pockets!! How can you expect the economy to grow, if people have less disposable income to spend?"

While I could easily counter that more revenue tends to generate better services and infrastructure improvements, let's leave that line of reasoning for another day. Let's take this argument as it is presented.

Why then do the same people see nothing wrong with upping out-of-pocket expenses of health care for unionized public sector workers? If the amount each worker must pony up for health care costs is increased, then we are taking money out of their pockets. How can conservatives expect the economy to grow, if unionized public sector workers have less disposable income to spend?

It should be the same principle.
