~ Gia-fu Feng and Jane English translation, published by Vintage Books, 1989 ~

Giving with great kindness
~ Derek Lin translation, from Tao Te Ching: Annotated & Explained, published by SkyLight Paths, 2006 ~

Be there when people need you.
~ Ron Hogan rendition, from Beatrice.com, 2004 ~
A popular saying is "what goes around, comes around." When many people use this phrase, I don't think they realize that they are embracing the concept of a cycle. To be sure, some recognize that a pictorial representation would be a circle, but that's about as far as they think about it!

It is in our own self-interest -- as long as we cling to the self -- to want to spread good vibes because they will come back to us. If instead we spread bad vibes, then this negativity is bound to catch us on the flip side.

Some other fellow expressed this same sentiment about two millennia ago: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

And Confucius said basically the same thing, don't do unto others what you wouldn't want done to yourself.
