Just like with words, we can view actions in two lights. If our intent is to try manipulate others in the attempt to satisfy our own desires, then brown-nosing is one technique we often employ.

However, if our intent is pure and virtuous, then we will treat others as we wish to be treated or not treat them like we don't wish to be treated. When we afford others with respect and dignity, they are far more likely to reciprocate.
