Tao Bible - Jeremiah 26:3

If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings.
~ King James version ~

Tao doesn't return evil for evil.
~ possible Taoist alternative ~
I know it may seem that I'm harping on the same point, but it is this point that keeps being reiterated in the Book of Jeremiah. God, it seems, will dole out to each person what they put in; sort of like karma. God can certainly behave in this manner, but, to do so, tends to negate the very idea that God is perfect. A perfect being would have no desire to react to outside stimuli.

The laws of nature are the laws of nature. They don't change on a whim or as a reaction to certain behaviors. The wind doesn't blow because you've pissed it off and the sun doesn't shine because it feels all warm and smooshy inside.

  1. I don't think the concept of a "perfect God" was the God that Jeremiah is channeling for the Jews who have strayed from the covenant. That fundamentalists might read it without understanding this is just silly. Biblical history and biblical archeology is always a tough one for those folks. Reality raises its ugly and perplexing head.
