Ashamed

"The master said, A gentleman [knight of the Way] is ashamed to let his words outrun his deeds." (Analects XIV 29)

I am 'ashamed', though I blabber on. But at least I am in good company — move over Confucius!

“The Master said, The ways of the true gentleman are three. I myself have met success in none of them.” (Analects XIV 30)

It seems there is really no escape from hypocrisy, except perhaps in admitting to it — or shutting up entirely. And if that is no escape, well then, perhaps it is somewhat mitigated.
