Bombardment

With the rise of the internet, it is often said that we are bombarded with information 24/7. Some folks have theorized that the totality of information available can be a bit overwhelming. With so many facts, data, statistics and opinions at a person's fingertips, it can cause the ability to process it to slow to such a point that a person's mind can enter gridlock.

This is just as true for computer systems themselves. Sometimes, when a site or blog is hit with a tremendous barrage of visitors simultaneously, it can cause the servers to go down and the whole system to freeze up.

This got me to thinking about the concept of a divine being who is tapped into everyone's thoughts. No matter how major or trivial, this supernatural entity supposedly can process all these bits of data simultaneously for perpetuity. Add to this the ability to peer into the various processes of minerals, plants and other creatures and what we have is an astronomical amount of information.

Could or does it ever become too much? Could this entity reach a point of information overload and, if so, what would be the repercussions?

One could speculate that this occurrence indeed has already happened and that's why our world is in such a sorry state. One day it became too much and the creator blew a circuit. Like a hard drive that has died, it can't seem to reboot itself.

  1. Well, I'm not sure that the being that created it would ever reach the state of overload.. I mean we are talking about the creator of existence of everything as we know it... whatever He or It is... I think that perhaps there is no way of overload. It is the definition of overload.
