Be Thankful for Evil

Evil gets such a bad rap!! People talk about it like nothing good ever comes from it. Love, on the other hand, reaps all the praise. Lovers, they say, are far superior to evildoers.

This is all plainly silly. Evil plays a central role in making this life worth living. If it was not for evil, there could be no love nor goodness. So, I think we should each give evil a big high five.

As we learn through the Taoist philosophy, we can't understand one thing without its opposite. They go hand-in-hand; two sides of the same coin. They compliment each other and seeds of one often are found in the other.

For you Christians out there, God would hold no meaning if there was no devil. Your entire faith would fold like a house of cards if love wasn't balanced by sin.

And for those of you who believe in reincarnation, there must be both good and bad karma. If not, what would your aura or spirit work toward?

While I am certainly not suggesting that we need to celebrate evil, we shouldn't completely deprecate it either. It serves a needed purpose in this realm.

It is what makes love, love and goodness, good.
