It turns out the Linux Mint 10 loaded rather easily. There are some differences between this one and the previous version, but nothing too dramatic. Of course, because I'm OCD, I was up LITERALLY all night (finally hit the sack at 8 this morning); I had to set my preferences and re-download a few programs so that my new version had the exact same look and feel as the previous incarnation. :P
Now, my good buddy Ta Wan has been urging me to switch over to the Debian version of Linux Mint. I considered his suggestion at length, but since I've grown comfortable with this Ubuntu-build and I'm getting better and better at understanding it, I'm simply not at the point in which I want to make a dramatic switch again.
So Ta Wan, maybe someday, I'll give it a try. I'm simply not "there" yet. :-)
