The Tao of Dark Sages - Chapter 7, Part 6

The Tao of Dark Sages
by Scott Bradley

Great. Now, by way of setting the stage for our continuing discussions, I’d like to share with you a certain sense I have. I feel as if we have all made a pilgrimage to this place where we find ourselves today — not simply physically, though that’s part of it — but also in terms of our understanding. I feel like we are now on holy ground, that we have come as far as we can come.

We are here with an understanding that we have a self, that this self is a window for the awareness that we somehow sense ourselves to be, and that our task now is to realize as fully as we can this experience of being this transparent, awareness-filled self. This is where we stop and simply be. Anything more cannot come from us.

Further ‘awakening’ can only come by way of something gifted. Awakening is not had by seeking or grasping and thus it can only arise as a gift, spontaneously and instantaneously.

May I suggest that what we are about now, is simply becoming more fully our innate natures, leaving satori, samadhi, nirvana, or whatever you may wish to call it, to fate. So, let’s get on with it and have fun discovering our selves and awareness in our selves.
