Tao Bible - Exodus 34:28

And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

Beings need sustenance to maintain balance.

While tarrying with God to create the second version of the 10 Commandments, the Bible reports that Moses didn't eat or drink for forty days.

All organisms need "food" to survive. While there is nothing wrong with fasting for a time, if one fasts too long, then the bodily functions begin to breakdown. In order to live a life in balance, we must try to keep our needs in balance as well.
