Other's Words

Like many of you, there are several blogs I check almost every single day. Not surprisingly, many have to do with Taoist themes, though certainly not all of them. So, I thought I would share some of the inspiring words I found today and would encourage you to check out these blogs -- if you haven't already -- because they offer inspiring words and thoughts routinely!!
from Christian Taoism
Not every adversary is an enemy.
Not every loss is a defeat.
Not every mystery is a puzzle.
Not every question is a challenge.
Not every conflict is a battle.
Not every fear is a disaster.
Not every difficulty is a problem.

from Daily Cup of Tao
Like a ripe fruit decays,
to continue new life;
We see a seed is not birth,
and no one ever really dies.

from The Invisible Dragon
I am hiding
sitting across the room
staring at myself

in marriage with
my illusions of life
a purposeless spirit

void of attraction
dark days season
my smile
a cocoon beast…

as I sit and be
a spirit in darkness

from The Pure Mountain Path
To be mindful of the Tao, we must be mindful of the moment. We cannot be cherishing or ruing what happened yesterday or this morning or whenever. Nor can we be speculating or dreaming about tomorrow. We have this moment in front of us. Give it your undivided attention. Do not drink your tea while thinking about your next meal. It is most unfortunate that people often are unable to live in the moment, as if somehow this moment is not good enough; that we need to move on to the next thing to have any pleasure. Do away with the distractions that cause you to become lost and prevent you from concentrating on what is in front of you now.

  1. From The Pure Moutnain Path:
"Do not drink your tea while thinking about your next meal."

My husband, who is a fine person, has some issues with food. So often in the morning he says, what do you want for dinner tonight? I am usually just enjoying my morning chia or latte and am unable or unwilling to think that far ahead. Needless to say, I am far more accomplished at improvising in the kitchen than he is.
