Black Or White Hats?

For nearly one week, an NBC News crew was held captive in Syria. While they reported no physical abuse, they did report suffering mightily from the psychological form, particularly mock executions. They lived to tell their story because someone rescued them, but these someones are not who you might think.

If you listen to our leaders and the mainstream media, Muslim Jihadists hate America. They loathe our freedoms, culture and religion. By and large, they are the terrorists that we must be protected from and the primary reason WHY we have lost so many of our rights in our perpetual War on Terror.

And yet, Syrian Jihadists are the very people who rescued the NBC News crew. This in no ways suggests that these or any Jihadists are choirboys. What it should tell us is that the simplistic characterizations we are fed routinely are anything but simplistic.

I'm sure the rescuers accomplished their feat partly by luck and partly for strategic purposes. They rescued these guys for a reason, not because they see themselves as modern day Robin Hoods. But rescue them they did!
