Words that are strictly true seem to be paradoxical.
~ James Legge translation, from The Sacred Books of the East, 1891 ~

The truth often sounds paradoxical.
~ Gia-fu Feng and Jane English translation, published by Vintage Books, 1989 ~

The truth seems like the opposite
~ Derek Lin translation, from Tao Te Ching: Annotated & Explained, published by SkyLight Paths, 2006 ~

Sometimes the truth makes no sense.
~ Ron Hogan rendition, from Beatrice.com, 2004 ~
Personally, I don't think the problem is that the truth sounds nonsensical or paradoxical. I think the issue is one of ease. We humans like to take the easiest route and, following the example of water, ain't so easy!

It takes discipline. It takes casting off our egoist desires and expectations. More than anything else, it takes patience and most of us are in too much of a damn hurry to achieve the results we want.
