Have you ever noticed that blogrolls (with or without the snazzy feature that includes the latest post title plus a snippet of text) is a lot like prayer? It's a mechanism we bloggers use to direct readers to other blogs without having to do much of a damn thing ourselves!
When one of us is going through some sort of travail, it's not uncommon for other people to say, "I'll pray for you!" By golly, that will sure help! Instead of offering some type of tangible assistance, the best they can come up with is to promise to -- who knows how often folks actually do it -- say a few words into the ether on our behalf.
Well, adding the blogroll widget to this blog took about as much time as a prayer -- give or take a minute or two.
While prayers themselves have never been proven to work, blogrolls do work from time to time. On any given day, I can look at our blog stats and find several out clicks to blogs on the blogroll. So, me thinks that adding a blogroll is a more effective lazy action than ether mumbling.
