For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates. You know, God spends an inordinate amount of time sacrificing beings and objects. In order to sacrifice something/someone, a valuation must be made. If you value something as low, the sacrifice is easy -- it's like a throwaway. If you value something as high, the sacrifice is more difficult.
~ King James version ~

~ possible Taoist alternative ~
Since Tao treats all things impartially, no valuations are made and thus there is no need to sacrifice one thing for another.
