Not you again?

Ta-Wan

Just to swap things around a little, a Christian asked a Taoist:

"Does God exist?"

and the Taoist said;

"For God to be all it must not exist as much as exist as existence is naturally only half of a possible position, exist/not exist, and so God must supersede existence and be both and neither. - so, no."

"Surely you meant yes as much as no!"

"Which is only null and void, so no."

"To say God does not exist, for sure, is twofold. You first must believe there is something to believe or not believe in and secondly you are claiming a very high level of knowledge that I'm not sure any one could have - even Einstein was agnostic at worst."

"Actually I claim a very low level of knowledge and ask you to do the thinking for me. Is this cup empty or full?"

"Oh please not this game..."

"Here I'm showing you a cup which is completely full, see for yourself."

"The cup is actually only half filled with water, can we return to the bigger question please?"

"The cup is half filled with water but is completely full of course, as nature abhors a vacuum, the cup is completely full with a combination of water and air."

"Very droll, now, the question at hand or will you avoid it all day?"

"Let's take the cup conceptually. Can we understand fullness without emptiness?"

"No, we understand one from the other."

"Quite."

"So...."

"Well I'm done here."

"You're done? That's it? Some half effort and you've given up?"

"My point is made and you did the thinking for me. For God to exist we must know of existence and non-existence only by each other. We must know of all and none also by each other. God can only be so equally everything that the existence is void and meaningless or not exist at all. Now to be honest God being all, but thereby being unnameable and have no opinions, love, hate, or any such quality, that is a start point I'm willing to work from."
