Multiplicity and change

Ta-Wan

As we've grown we've changed, nothing has remained the same. It is commonly accepted that change is what we experience; aging, weather, moods, night becoming day, warm becoming cool; and what we do not experience is anything unchanging. Even in our early years before we knew a separate self we can say that we sensed change, perhaps in our early years that was all we sensed.

What we refer to as ourself, the witness to all of this change, has also changed no end; ideas, concepts, wants, needs, fullness becoming hunger, awakeness becoming tiredness and there is quite a blur between what we call ourself and what we call our experience. Outside of this blurred boundary or outside of the most clinical descriptions of their 'real' differences is this recognition of a changing taking place.

Within this change there are what we call people and affirmed by these people are change and difference. Around us we see nature at peace and we see nature reek havoc but in human form this scale of nice to nasty has an even more captivating dance, we can obsess over the different expressions, the oh so nice gesture by one and the oh so terrible action of another.

This dance of multiplicity, all of our human forms at play, is our dance and it is ceaseless. Even if your current dance is as minimal as twitching eyes and raising and lowering lungs then it is enough for you to see that you could never render yourself as a fixed form. We may capture a moment within an apparently fixed form, that of a photograph, drawing, statue or model and this aids to clarify how we are not fixed at all, form is dead and nothing is form and nothing is dead. The most realistic model will not pulsate, breathe or age as we do and the most seemingly fixed forms, say those of a rock or metal bar are, given the time frame, not fixed at all.

All we know for sure, all we can agree upon unanimously, is that; change is underway and nothing stays the same. Given this isn't it odd how we complain of changes in the weather or changes in others or we seek to halt or stave change with wishes or potions?

We change, others change, our environment, mood, ideas, ... Nothing stays the same.
