A Morsel to Chew on This Friday Afternoon

Trey Smith

As I have indicated previously, I have decided to do a little research into the Zen philosophy. To get me started, I was looking for a book that would provide a brief history plus some of the main themes. I chose Simple Zen by C. Alexander & Annellen Simpkins. (When I was first researching Taoism, I read a small book by these two.)

Anyhow, here's a short snippet from the aforementioned book for you to chew on today.
Rene Descartes' famous conclusion does not necessarily follow. Instead of his statement "I think, therefore I am," Zen Buddhists would say "I think I am, therefore I appear."
