Chapter 7, Part 3 - Confucius

The Master said, "The leaving virtue without proper cultivation; the not thoroughly discussing what is learned; not being able to move towards righteousness of which a knowledge is gained; and not being able to change what is not good: these are the things which occasion me solicitude."

  1. Great as these words are on their own it is quite something to see that taoism sits between conformism and zen.

The lines of confucius above contrast to zen

" This ultimate state is not bound by rules and descriptions. For the Realized mind, at one with the Way, all doing ceases"

Yet taoism comfortably sits inbetween balancing the scale!

  2. Ha. Funny at times. My phone spelled confucianism as conformism. Sometimes technology hits the nail.
