Yet Another Reason

The Obama administration has infuriated environmentalists by giving BP the green light to bid for new drilling rights in the Gulf of Mexico.

The move – seen as a major step in the company's political rehabilitation as an offshore driller following the Deepwater Horizon accident – was revealed by the head of the US safety regulator after a congressional hearing in Washington.

"They don't have a deeply flawed record offshore," said Michael Bromwich, head of the newly formed Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement. "The question is: 'Do you administer the administrative death penalty based on one incident?', and we have concluded that's not appropriate."

Here we have yet another clear example of why a vote for Barack Obama is not in keeping with progressive values!

It makes one wonder what Bromwich would consider "a deeply flawed record." BP has been fined numerous times for a variety of health and environmental issues over the past decade. They are responsible for the largest and costliest environmental disaster in US history and there is not a shred of evidence that they've learned ANYTHING beneficial to society in regards to the disaster.

This would be like allowing a serial murderer to walk free because he only killed 40 victims in a 3-month span. The administration would argue, "Hey, he didn't kill 100. He needs another chance. He has promised us he will be on his best behavior."
