Tao Bible - Isaiah 34:8

For it is the day of the LORD's vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.
~ King James version ~

I am good to people who are good.
I am also good to people who are not good.
Because Virtue is goodness.
~ from Verse 49 of the Tao Te Ching ~
It seems to me that the Christian God suffers from a split personalty! On some occasions, revenge and retribution are viewed as fine and dandy. At other times, however, we're told to "turn the other cheek."

From the Taoist standpoint, we should comport ourselves by our own standards. How other people behave toward us is immaterial. What does it say about a person who only loves those who love you or who only is kind to people who are kind to you?
