60,000 Strong

The Day of Global Revolution must be making the elites very nervous. As The Guardian reports today, there are, at least, 950 protests held in over 80 countries! While we Americans should be proud of the numbers who have taken to the streets in New York City and across the country, the people of Madrid, Spain can teach us a thing or two about channeling public outrage.

The police in Madrid estimated that 60,000 took to the streets today. Since the authorities tend to under count these sorts of things -- often by a substantial amount -- we can guess that the true numbers conceivably could be in the 70,000 - 100,000 range. That's a lot of disgruntled people!!

If today turns out to be a flash-in-the-pan and most folks go back to their normal routines tomorrow, the powers that be will breath a sigh of relief. If, however, today launches something that sustains itself and grows ever larger, then the ruling powers will have a major problem on their hands.

Let's hope for the latter!
