As a person who leads a very pedestrian lifestyle -- one that isn't very social -- I don't run into a wide variety of folks in this small town of South Bend, Washington. But through the auspices of this blog, I connect with people from all over the world.

That's a baker's dozen! And it's only one brief snapshot at that. In all, according to the Flag Counter service, I have had visitors from 151 countries in the past 2 years.
There are many positives and negatives about the growing importance and influence of the internet on our daily lives. For me, this ability to communicate with others from different lands and, sometimes, different languages is one of the big pluses.
