Tao Bible - Isaiah 5:15-16

And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled: But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.
~ King James version ~

The Tao of heaven is like the bending of a bow.
The high is lowered, and the low is raised.
~ from Verse 77 of the Tao Te Ching ~
Throughout this series I have tried to find those verses in which Christianity and Taoism find congruence and those which highlight stark differences of approach. Tonight's post falls into the latter category.

From the Biblical standpoint, God is high. From the Taoist standpoint, Tao is low. God is said to be exalted, while Tao is simple and humble.

In these two lines from Isaiah Verse 5, we are told that the mean and evil among us will be brought down [by God]. In the Taoist understanding of the world, everything goes down at a certain point and rises again because life and death are part of the cycle of the Way.
