Tao Bible - Ecclesiastes 9:11

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
~ King James version ~

Shit happens.
~ possible Taoist alternative ~
We can't always figure out why things occur in this life. Often, we make our own beds and then are forced to lay in them. Sometimes though, life merely presents itself to us in ways we are unable to fathom.

If could pull back to see all the variables at work, then we would understand why seemingly random things occur. But we can't pull back that far because the human mind sees reality through the myopic sense of the self.

So, what we are left with is -- shit happens.

  2. True, but shit is a far more "colorful" word. :-D

  3. Well, the random things aren't necessarily "shitty"...you just don't know. Fate could also be "favorable" things. What looks like a "shitty" fate, could turn out to be a good thing. Ask Uncle Zhou about his horse.
