Tao Bible - Ecclesiastes 10:4

If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; for yielding pacifieth great offences.
~ King James version ~

The Tao of heaven does not strive, and yet it overcomes.
~ from Verse 73 of the Tao Te Ching ~
This verse from Ecclesiastes sure sounds like it is written by the powers that be! Telling the people not to rise up if their ruler runs amok. Talk about trying to control your underlings!

Generally speaking, Lao Tzu is against war and violent confrontations. However, if one finds injustices in one's midst, the Taoist sage doesn't suggest we lay down and allow the powerful to run over us.

The trick to standing your ground is to do so out of Supreme Virtue, not our ego-based desires. Whenever possible, if we stand together peaceably in solidarity, we can overcome much.
