After 13 consecutive months of above average rainfall in South Bend, we have not received a drop thus far in August. There have been several mornings this month in which it has looked like it would start raining at any moment, but no moisture has made it to the ground. Of course, we have received so much in previous months that area plants don't seem to be suffering that much.
While a good deal of the continental US has suffered through a hellish summer, it has been near picture perfect here. So far this summer we have had only two -- that's right, two -- days with high temperatures above 80 degrees. Most days have ranged from the mid 60s to the mid 70s. Not too cool and not too warm. Just rrrrright.
I wish I could bottle this summer. I could get used to weather like this!
