Tao Bible - Proverbs 28:19

He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.
~ King James version ~

We should each be diligent in anything we undertake.
~ possible Taoist alternative ~
In so many of the biblical passages, there is a sense of absoluteness. If a person fears God and lives according to his laws, said individuals will be rewarded. If not, they will be punished.

From the perspective of philosophical Taoism, we should each be diligent in whatever we do, regardless of the potential outcome. We may do everything we can and within our purview, yet we still may not "succeed." In this life, there are countless variables that we can neither control nor anticipate.

So, we should put our best foot forward and allow the results to manifest themselves.
