Tao Bible - Ecclesiastes 3:3

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
~ King James version ~

The ten thousand things rise and fall while the Self watches their return.
They grow and flourish and then return to the source.
Returning to the source is stillness, which is the way of nature.
~ from Verse 16 of the Tao Te Ching ~
Each form is born and then dies. In fact, each contains the germ of the other. Life itself is the first step toward eventual death and from death springs new life. It is part of the mysterious cycle from which none of us can escape.

  1. I would say birth (or possibly conception) is the first step toward death. Life is what happens in between.

    That "Self" watching the return of the the 10,000 things is interesting. This suggests meditation to me. Whose translation is this?

  2. I tend to use the Feng/English translation in these posts...most of the time (including this one).
