So Many Panties in a Wad

CNN has just come out with a poll that shows Obama losing support from his left flank.

“Roughly one in four Americans who disapprove of the president say they feel that way because he's not been liberal enough,” the poll said. “Obama's approval rating among liberals has dropped to 71 percent, the lowest point in his presidency.”

Oh my! Oh my! ONLY 71 percent of liberals approve of the Obama administration. Call out the fire department, Red Cross and National Guard.

I know I've made this point before and some of you may be getting tired of it, but it floors me that 7 in 10 self-defined liberals STILL give the president a thumbs up. Since being elected, he neither has advanced nor protected most of the issues and policies liberals hold dear. His political position is more closely aligned with a 1950s Republican. So, what in the heck is wrong with these 7 people?

Nearly 3 in 10 liberals see the president for what he truly is -- yet another shill for the corporate state. Unfortunately, I don't hold out too much hope for most of them. The vast majority in this group will throw a major temper tantrum and declare that they will neither work to reelect or vote for Obama...only to do both about a year or so from now.

As I have stated before, this is why Obama completely ignores his more liberal supporters. He knows that, for all their current histrionics, most of them will come back into the fold and be the good little sheeple they are supposed to be in 2012. A good number of them will put all their anger and frustration behind them to become ardent Obama supporters again.

So, this group can get their panties in a wad and it won't dissuade the president one iota. His corporate backers want the federal budget eviscerated and, sooner or later, he will see to it that the deed is done. No matter how draconian the federal budget turns out to be, liberals will fall prey to collective amnesia and sing the praises of their man of "hope" once more.
