Real Class Warfare

It seems that almost anytime someone on the Left complains about the federal government's incessant acquiescence to the desires of gilded society, the corporations and individuals dripping in golden sweat act wounded and scream, "You're trying to foment class warfare!" When the upper crust throws the vast majority under the nearest speeding bus, that is not an example of class warfare, they declare -- the insanely wealthy are only pursuing what's "best" for the country (which almost always happens to be what's best for their bottom line).

We common folk invest too much time and energy believing that our elected federal representatives give much of a diddly damn how their historic decisions might, possibly, impact the rest of us. The vast majority of them don't have the slightest clue and there is no one in their immediate circle that they know well enough to ask.

If you look at the financial standing of almost every single member of Congress or the Oval Office, their fortunes sky past the average American they supposedly represent. Many are multi-millionaires and a significant number are at least millionaires. The poor snots of the Washington [elected] elite can only boast of hundreds of thousands of dollars socked away who knows where.

It is when we understand that almost every member of Congress is in the top 20% that we come to realize that just about every piece of legislation passed is a form of class warfare itself! Tucked into the most laudable and forward-thinking legislation are loopholes large enough to fly a jumbo jet through. They aren't placed there inadvertently either. No, they are put there to allow the powers that be to subvert whatever it is that the legislation aims to address.

This represents one of the chief reasons that Corporate America literally has taken this nation hostage. Time and time again, Congress (whether it be GOP or Democrat-controlled) hands the corporate class the guns and the ammunition to back the rest of us into the corner.

This time is no different from the last...or the next time around.
