For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counselors there is safety.Those who promote war -- regardless of how wise we may believe them to be -- usually do so as a way to fulfill their own wanton desires. More often than not, such advocates hope to derive a monetary profit and/or increased power out of the endeavor.

Those who follow the Way only engage in war as a last resort. They understand that war represents a failure of imagination. Most issues that result in war could have been dealt with more constructively and peaceably when the issues were small and less threatening.
