Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.Like many other key issues, the Bible presents a rather schizo view of the child. In some instances, it mirrors Taoist philosophy in that childhood is held up to be a time of virtue and innocence. At other times, however, the role of the child is likened to that of a fool!
~ King James version ~
Know the strength of man,
But keep a woman's care!
Be the stream of the universe!
Being the stream of the universe,
Ever true and unswerving,
Become as a little child once more.
~ from Verse 28 of the Tao Te Ching ~
