Before You Get Excited

With the election season moving closer and closer, I know a lot of neo-liberals out there are gearing up to ooze excitement over the Obama re-election bid. We will hear things like, "He needs another 4 years for his true colors to come out" or "If the Dems can take back the House, then you'll see the true Obama at work!"

Yeah. Right.

So, who do you think the pseudo man of hope met with last week? Did he meet with leading environmental groups to talk about how to curb our mad dash toward global warming? Did he meet with housing advocates to talk about how to prosecute the frauds implicit in the foreclosuregate scandal? Did he meet with economic advocates to discuss putting Americans back to work?

If you guessed ANY of these groups, you are far off the mark. The so-called champion of the people met with Wall Street types to see if he could "win them back."

Win them back? Wall Street is enjoying record profits. Nary a fraudster has been prosecuted for driving the national and world economy into the ground. He's given them bailouts to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars plus it was under his administration that their individual taxes were kept artificially low.

What more could these fat cats want?

That's the question Team Obama wanted answered and you can be sure they provided him with a host of creative ideas.

Meanwhile, here in the real world, unemployment continues to increase and the economy looks poised to head toward a double dip. But why worry about trivial things like that when ya got an election to win?!
