Accountability

And thanks to our intelligence professionals and Special Forces, we killed Osama bin Laden, the only leader that al-Qaida had ever known. This was a victory for all who have served since 9/11. One soldier summed it up well. "The message," he said, "is we don't forget. You will be held accountable, no matter how long it takes."
~ text from the speech delivered by President Obama tonight ~
The quote of the soldier is what we call political theater. It is nothing more than nationalistic, chest-thumping rhetoric.

This line was delivered by a man who refused to hold the Bush administration accountable for ANY of their many crimes. In that case, accountability meant nothing.

This line was delivered by a man who refuses to hold Wall Street responsible for crashing both our nation's and the world's economy. In that case, accountability means zip.

This line was delivered by a man who has made no real efforts to counter the price-gouging being committed by the oil or pharmaceutical industry. In either case, accountability means zilch.

And this line was delivered by a man who has been complicit in allowing the US military and corporate giants to rape, pillage and pollute the planet with wild abandon. In these cases, accountability does not amount to a hill of beans.

No, in his book, accountability ONLY applies to other people who refuse to take their marching orders from the US ruling elites!
