Weed -- Getting High

I've written a bit about our yard. I usually refer to it as grass, but it contains as much weeds as grass. While we have purposely killed a large swath of weeds/grass and replaced such with native plants, there is still a significant amount of yard left. And that yard section is really high.

We no longer own a lawnmower. We had an old one, when we first moved in, but I soon discovered that cutting the grass was too hard on me physically. So, we sold it.

Therefore, we need to pay someone else to cut it. Yet, here is where we keep encountering a problem. We have had no luck finding a reliable person to do it!

You would think in these rough economic times that there would be a lot of people looking to pick up some extra bucks. That doesn't seem to be the case around here. There are few, if any, notices on our area bulletin boards advertising lawn mowing services and no such ads in our two weekly newspapers.

We contracted with one young fellow last month to take care of our lawn mowing for this year, but he seems to have vanished into thin air. He told us he would check in with us every week to 10 days, but, after he mowed our yard for the first time this spring, we have neither seen nor heard from him since.

So, the weeds continue to grow; getting really high, man. ;-)
