The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.These passages highlight a major difference between Christianity and philosophical Taoism. For the former, teaching (instruction) via the right words is extremely important. For the latter, words often represent stumbling blocks -- things that interfere with the ability to attain wisdom.
~ King James version ~
Teaching without words and work without doing
Are understood by very few.
~ from Verse 43 of the Tao Te Ching ~
Another way to express this difference is that Christianity focuses much of its attention on the external (the church), while Taoism hones in on the internal.
