Tao Bible - Proverbs 15:7

The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.
~ King James version ~

Teaching without words and work without doing
Are understood by very few.
~ from Verse 43 of the Tao Te Ching ~
These passages highlight a major difference between Christianity and philosophical Taoism. For the former, teaching (instruction) via the right words is extremely important. For the latter, words often represent stumbling blocks -- things that interfere with the ability to attain wisdom.

Another way to express this difference is that Christianity focuses much of its attention on the external (the church), while Taoism hones in on the internal.
