Tao Bible - Proverbs 13:22

A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
~ King James version ~

You can't bequeath supreme virtue from one person to another.
~ possible Taoist alternative ~
The focus of this verse from the Christian perspective is on earthly wealth. It basically says that each of us must fulfill our desires for wealth and power on the behalf of future generations.

For the Taoist, unfettered desire is the root to our own suffering. If our chief drive in life is to amass wealth and power, we create our own misery.

Virtue cannot be inherited nor given from one individual to another. We only can acquire it by living our own lives and gaining wisdom from each step along the path.
