Tao Bible - Proverbs 5:18-19

Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
~ King James version ~

Issues of marriage and chastity are better left to the discretion of each individual and each couple.
~ possible Taoist alternative ~
Solomon cautions his son to be faithful to his wife.

As opposed to Christianity, Taoism is not a philosophy filled with moral dos and don'ts. The conduct of one's life, including social relationships, is left up to each person and the people we are in relationship with. Rather than trying to live one's life by external precepts, we are urged to live in tune with our internal nature.

In terms of marriage and fidelity, each of us should do that which brings the greatest harmony in our own life and the lives of others.

  1. Oh come on RT, you're saying a father shouldn't give advice to his son?

  2. This isn't really father to son advice. It's the restatement of one of the ten commandments.

  3. Oh, I think you could make a case that the Decalogue is father-to-son advice....they are not bad words to live by.
