If you are concerned with glory, then you will lack true wisdom.

If you seek high status and plaudits from others, then your ego will be in the driver's seat! The ego acts as a veil to shroud wisdom. If you hope to become wise like a sage, then don't try to become wise. The trying will trip you up every time.
