For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.To me, both verses warn of the intoxicating influence of becoming attached to ephemeral constructs. When are lives become wrapped up in wealth, power, status and influence, we lose sight of the simple essence of life itself and we end up paying tribute to an artificial master.
~ King James version ~

He who saves will suffer heavy loss.

"When OUR lives.."
ReplyDeleteMy RSV reads "...the complacence of fools destroys them," which is nice too.
