More Than a Smidge

Today was another one of those days we headed north to the "big city" of Aberdeen for some grocery shopping. We purchased the usual fare PLUS an item that we get only rarely: Nutella. It is advertised as a hazelnut spread with "a hint of cocoa," but it only contains 13% hazelnuts and I would differ with them over their definition of a "hint."

While both my wife and I love the creamy flavor of Nutella -- a taste that is reminiscent of those days of yore when we would lick out the remnants of a bowl of chocolate frosting -- it is a bit too high in saturated fat for general use. Even worse, those fat grams come from palm oil; definitely not the healthiest of oils.

But it does taste darn good!

  1. When I was on the Appalachian Trail, Nutella was worth its weight in gold. Though of course we'd share, letting one another take a spoonful.

    Good stuff.
