Throughout the last month, I have sung praises to Naomi Klein's The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism. It is one of the best books I have ever read in the realm of history and economics!
I already have several more snippets from it that I will be sharing in the coming days.
While I continue to recommend it highly, there is no question that it is NOT light reading. The paperback version spans nearly 600 pages with no pictures to pad that total!
Realizing that some of you simply may not have the time to commit to such an endeavor, I have found a documentary based on the book that will introduce you to the basic gist in less than 79 minutes. While the video certainly doesn't capture the breadth of the book, it does a commendable job conveying the basic principles underlying disaster capitalism and the shock doctrine.
In my opinion, once a person has read the book and/or watched the video, you won't see the world today with the same eyes!

I am also a big Naomi Klein fan.
