Tao is not the cause of our suffering.

We suffer from physical afflictions because we have a body. As with any mechanism, aspects of our bodies get out of kilter and, as they age, parts and systems begin to wear out. Even the sage who lives in complete harmony with the Way will one day die. The only way to avoid death and affliction is to be formless like Tao.
