The Tao of Dark Sages - Chapter 15

The Tao of Dark Sages
by Scott Bradley

Just as Gabi and I entered the tiny village, we chanced upon Sue-tzu shopping among the vegetable - wallahs.

Scott-tzu! My god! What are you doing here?

Sue-tzu! What a surprise! We’re just exploring the beauties of western Nepal—and here you are!

Ha! You are a rascal! God. How many are with you?

Just me and my friend Gabi.

(Introductions)

That’s good! Well, unless you’re going to be too busy what with exploring and all, I hope you will be able to spend some time with me and Mark-tzu.

That would be great. And how are you two?

We’re doing great. You’ll find that Mark-tzu is perhaps a little less communicative than before, though.

Then he must be mum indeed! What’s up?

Well, he’s...well, I guess you’d say he’s enlightened. He won’t say so, but he’s gone somewhere very peaceful and just reeks of contentment. If you were hoping to get anything out of him you’ll probably be disappointed.

Gabi - You mean he’s like...a buddha, or something? Wow, and we get to meet him!?

Yes, you get to meet him — for what it’s worth. Come for dinner; our hovel is just up that street there — the last one.
