We've all heard the rhetoric countless times before: Muslim terrorists lead suicide attacks against America and her allies because they hate our freedoms. Glenn Beck says it is true. So do George W. Bush, Karl Rove, Joe Lieberman, Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh. These people can't be wrong, can they?
In a shocking development -- one barely reported on by the mainstream media -- a research team partially funded by the US Department of Defense has found that the biggest correlation is between foreign military occupation and suicide attacks. In other words, it has little to do with our freedoms and everything to do with our military presence in their countries!
What I found interesting about this "story" is that you don't see it plastered all over the mainstream news. The mainstream media consistently is painted as liberal, yet the findings of this study must be considered too far out there to even warrant a mention in passing.

"We have lots of evidence now that when you put the foreign military presence in, it triggers suicide terrorism campaigns, ... and that when the foreign forces leave, it takes away almost 100 percent of the terrorist campaign," Pape said in an interview last week on his findings.Let's face it! All the results of this study point to is commonsense. The nations we've been occupying for the past twenty years are predominantly Muslim and almost every suicide attack during this time has been from Muslim extremists. We haven't been occupying countries in which the predominant religion is Hinduism or Buddhism and, not surprisingly, you never hear of Hindu or Buddhist suicide attacks.
Pape said there has been a dramatic spike in suicide bombings in Afghanistan since U.S. forces began to expand their presence to the south and east of the country in 2006. While there were a total of 12 suicide attacks from 2001 to 2005 in Afghanistan when the U.S. had a relatively limited troop presence of a few thousand troops mostly in Kabul, since 2006 there have been more than 450 suicide attacks in Afghanistan — and they are growing more lethal, Pape said...
