Produce your own dream. If you want to save Peru, go save Peru. It's quite possible to do anything, but not if you put it on the leaders...Don't expect Carter or Reagan or John Lennon or Yoko Ono or Bob Dylan or Jesus Christ to come and do it for you. You have to do it yourself. It should be easy to understand why I would feature such a quote -- it mirrors a point I have made on this blog numerous times before!!
That's what the great masters and mistresses have been saying ever since time began. They can point the way, leave signposts and little instructions in various books that are now called holy and worshiped for the cover of the book and not what it says, but the instructions are all there for all to see, have always been and always will be...And people cannot provide it for you. I can't wake you up. You can wake you up. I can't cure you. You can cure you.
~ John Lennon quoted in The Cynical Idealist: A Spiritual Biography of John Lennon ~
Do you seek answers? Nobody else can define them for you. Trying to discover the meaning of life? Only you can uncover your own meaning.
We live in a world in which people are taught to think of themselves as impotent. We're told again and again and again that we don't possess the power to change much of anything. While it may be true that you and I can't point at a mountain and make it levitate above the ocean, we do have an immense power to change one thing that is far more dynamic -- ourselves.
When we change ourselves, we change the world. Every time we come in contact with another being or situation, we impact it. Even if we do nothing, that still exerts an impact. And so, if we change ourselves into loving, virtuous and nonviolent individuals, the ripples we create will pulse away from our center to impact the world far and wide.
But to find that place inside ourselves cannot be accomplished by ceding our power to others. When we give away our power to leaders, teachers, religious authorities or God, we are giving up our ability to change the world ourselves. We are lazily saying, "You do it, I'm not interested."
This blogs exists to combat the notion that you and I are indeed powerless. Unlike so many other blogs throughout the internet, I don't pretend that I can or will provide you with any answers. My various ruminations are nothing more than my own questions. My sincere hope is that some of my questions may spur some of your own. It is only by asking our own individual questions that we may find our own individual answers.
Produce your own dream!!
Beautiful, RT. Indeed. Namaste.
